As I mentioned in the syllabus, you'll take twenty short, low-stakes (10 points each) quizzes over the course of the semester. And, instead of me grading them, returning them, then briefly reviewing each quiz in class, you'll grade them yourself!
The way this will work is that I'll collect the quizzes and give them all a quick read to get a sense of how everyone is generally approaching each question. I might also add an occasional quick comment in the margins (though you'll quickly discover that my handwriting leaves a lot to the imagination;-). I'll then scan them and return them to you at the beginning of the next class.
To help you through this process, below you'll find a short explanation of my reasoning for the questions I've posed along with links to a grading rubric and short (five minutes or so) video review.
I am hopeful that this process of reviewing and grading your own work will reinforce your understanding of many of the key concepts presented in this course. I also hope that you'll find the rubric and review videos to be helpful as you study for exams - and possibly even as reference material as you prepare lab reports and your capstone project.
